It’s been awhile…since I’ve posted anything here. Well, I’ve been quite busy with the birth of my first grand child, Kekoa Crisostomo Kaiwi! It’s been pretty hectic around here!

This is me holding my grandson right after delivery…after daddy held him.

She looks so smug, like yea I did it! I have my own baby!!!

My son and his first nephew. He is soooo proud and excited to hold baby!

My sister snuggling Kekoa. She is awesome!!! Don’t know what I’d do without her!

Da Kaiwi Boiz!

Crisostomo Kaiwi Ohana!
So that’s it for photos! Now back to work!

We went to Polo Beach in Wailea yesterday. It’s been so hot and muggy lately on Maui that I just had to get out of the house.
We brought sandwich fixins and coke, found a nice spot to put our chairs and commenced to eating our sandwiches.
The waves were almost nil when we got there but by the time we finished eating there were some small, really small but ridable waves, fun waves.
While we were eating we noticed a twister in the sky. At first we thought it was a jet line in the sky but it was too short.

The water was a little weird that day. It smelled like water from a harbor, well there is a harbor right around the corner, no wonder. The water was murky and felt weird but still we had a great time together just talking and laughing while swimming. I really enjoy moments like that with my children.
Me and my little girl also got some reading time in. She’s currently reading “You Are What You Think” and I told her that to start reading books like that at such a young age will help her to understand life better but I told her not to get into blaming herself either for everything that happens to her. Just be balanced.

or honu (in olelo) while collecting beach glass and shells today! It was right out right where the body boarders usually surf. It was just split second but it was awesome and left me blessed! Anytime I see something like that or a bird fly across me I always feel like something good is going to happen, like it’s a sign. It was a great day for collecting, not as good as some other days but at least I got some beach glass and shells and am thankful for that.
The best glass I found is a cobalt blue long glass good for a pendant which I will make probably tomorrow then put up for sale at my store, Natural Maui. If you’d like to see it when I do here is my URL:

While collecting beach glass and shells, Rel, my youngest daughter was busy butt surfing with all her clothes on. Meanwhile, Richard, my son was at the other end of the beach collecting his share of beach glass. I’m so proud of them.
They are both now doing PSA’s on 89.5 for the Paia Youth and Cultural Center. You can look the radio station up on the internet:

they play a wide variety of music too!
I just wish I could’ve taken pics of the honu but I do have some video footage of honu’s that we took at Polo’s Beach in Wailea and will upload that soon!

Watching the sailboarders at Hookipa

After being sick all day Saturday it was nice to get out and get to the beach. We went to Hookipa, a popular destination for sail boarders around the world.

2 of my 3 children posing for me at Hookipa. I wanted to get the sail boarders in the background.
Ok, now I want you to look at this sequence of pictures…my girl…little rascal!

This is my son, he loves to just sit and meditate. Now he’s meditating on the birds, being quiet and still so they won’t get spooked and fly away.
Now here comes my little girl!

Here she’s actually telling me to watch her cause she’s going to chase the birds. Look at her face…rascal!

Mission Accomplished!

On this particular day she was helping me find shells and beach glass. Children seem to be a lot faster at running and grabbing the goods before the waves wash in or out. I think it’s because they’re smaller and closer to the ground then me. It has nothing to do with me being slow and slightly over weight. Ok enough of that!
Most times I collect all by myself but I don’t mind at all. It’s a great time to reflect on a lot of things. Life in general.
Every time I find a nice shell or beach glass I always give Ke Akua a great big Mahalo and the shells and beach glass seem to keep coming in for me.
Each piece I pick up I look and already have a plan as to what I’m going to do with the piece and sometimes I can remember if there’s a matching piece already at home waiting for its partner.
Here’s a couple of photos of my girl and I looking shell and beach glass hunting:

No, I got that one, for real, and it was pretty too!

Rel hard at work collecting shells.

I call it my grueling job!

Running to get that oh so precious beach glass before the white wash washes it away!

Natural Maui Tumblers not only tumbles beach glass and shells but also my son. That’s him and his red body board. Yes, he’s hard at work!

I just couldn’t resist taking pictures of my son diving for Natural Maui beach sea glass and shells.

He caught me taking pictures. Here he is waving to me.

All in all it was a very successful day for Natural Maui collecting beach sea glass and shells
